Groundwater
Groundwater is high, very close to the surface, but now falling. Springs will continue to appear, water will be in fields, small amounts of water will flow down roads, groundwater will affect the ability of the sewage network to operate in East Dean, Charlton, Singleton and West Dean, and may appear in a small number of basements. Only showers, or small amounts of rain are forecast over the next 5 days to Tuesday 17/03/2026. Groundwater at at both Chilgrove and East Dean boreholes is expected to continue to fall. It is probable that groundwater will continue to fall throughout March, although groundwater groundwater flood impacts may not reduce until April. If there is persistent, or exceptional rainfall in late March, groundwater flood impacts may remain for longer. Take care on roads that flood (Chilgrove, West Dean, Singleton, East Dean). Ensure pumps work. We will update this message by 18:00 17/03/2026.

Groundwater
Groundwater levels in Finchdean, Dean Lane End and Rowlands Castle are slowly falling. In the last week, the level at the borehole in Finchdean has fallen by 8cm. Flooding is expected to be affecting a small number of cellars in Finchdean, Dean Lane End and Rowlands Castle. Road flooding is expected to be ongoing. Sewerage system impacts could also be possible. Only a small amount of rain (between 10 and 20mm) is forecast to affect Hampshire between Monday 09/03/2026 and Friday 13/03/2026. Over the weekend and into next week, further unsettled weather is possible. Groundwater levels are expected to slowly fall this week, but could begin rising in the second half of March if heavy rain affects the valley. We are closely monitoring the situation.
