High groundwater levels may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible. Groundwater levels are falling very slowly at our Longacre borehole in the Lambourne Valley. We expect levels to remain high over the next few weeks and levels will remain sensitive to further sustained rainfall. Due to the nature of groundwater flooding, this situation could continue for several weeks or longer. We are closely monitoring rainfall and groundwater levels. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. Take particular care when driving through flood water both for your own safety and to prevent flooding to others. High river levels may lead to flooding. River levels are high on the River Lambourn from Upper Lambourn down to Newbury. Flooding of low lying land and roads is expected to continue today, 16 March 2026, especially in the Shaw area. The forecast is for a mostly dry day today and a dry day tomorrow. River levels are high but falling very slowly. We expect river levels to continue to fall gradually over the coming days. River levels are sensitive to further rainfall.
